Curriculum Development and Distance Learning

The AMEN Distance Education Network establishes a virtual school integrated across grades 11 and 12 and the Associate degree granting institutions. The dominant organizational structure of the 21st Century will be the virtual organization, in which several real organizations dynamically form alliances to meet specific, shared goals. CAM-I believes that no single institution has all the knowledge and skills to efficiently educate the kinds of graduates industry needs--what is needed is a virtual school, a school whose educational program is the sum of parts contributed by a number of educational and industrial partners.

CAM-I and the Advanced Technological Education (ATE) Alliance are developing a virtual school combining a national network of education resources to provide locally and temporally optimized education for employability. Pilot curriculum modules are being disseminated through distance education and telecommunications technologies among the Alliance's member Associate degree granting institutions and their associated Secondary Schools. The curricula is being further disseminated throughout the United States by CAM-I in publications, public forums, and through CAM-I's national network of industrial members. The ATE Alliance provides 21st Century education in clusters with large, diverse minority populations, preparing students for employment in challenging and rewarding careers.
